Date: 2002-08-08 02:17 pm (UTC)ohhh, yay! You're in journalism!! That's awesome! Pleeease save the newspaper! Become a graphics editor! And, and, and... help suggest some good articles to people.. make them go out and interview people and write about REAL subjects that people care about, no stories like "SAA holds annual Christmas Dance." I can suggest two things to you right now that I never got a chance to write about because the year ended and I graduated. (By the way, you know that I had 4 unofficial editorial positions... I was officially the A&E page editor, and I was supposed to train the graphics editor on how to scan and crop pictures. But in my spare time I also ended up picking up part of the Etcetra page editor's position, and I had to fix everyone's little computer problems for them when they occurred, so I was practically the editor-in-chief (even SHE would come and ask me questions).)
Ok, ok, enough ranting. First thing you should do or whatever is tell Katie Studwhatever (the editor in chief of this upcoming year) that you KNOW how to do graphics REALLY REALLY well, and she'll be absolutely thrilled that someone knows how to do that stuff. Seriously- I know NOTHING about graphics, and I still knew more than most of the girls in my class. So.. yeah.
Also, if you start brainstorming ideas for the first issue of the newspaper, two things I want for you to suggest (because I never had a chance to) is that (1) we put a prayers and petitions box on one of our pages, and (2) that someone should do an article on diet pills.. and that they try to interview some anonymous girls at SAA who are taking them (trust me- there are a lot of them). Oh, another good article would be to do something on technology stuff... since so many girls don't know much about that. Like... maybe do an article on palm pilots or something?
I know that I'm just blabbing on, and you haven't even gotten into the class yet. Just keep these ideas in mind! ;)
