yes.. I have been reading up a storm.. there hasnt been much to do.. instead of doing the rigorous exercise plan I pulled up a week or so ago.. I have been turning pages till I reach the end.. last night I read the sequel to "the Princess Diaries" .. its called "Princess in the Spotlight".. regardless.. I doubt there will be a sequel to the movie.. as the storylines from book to movie have 3 huge differences, in actuality: they live in New York, not San Francisco, the father is alive (in fact he is the one who spills the beans to her), as opposed to being dead, and Mia and Michael do not start their budding romance that early in the game, instead of that "magical" though rather silly kiss at the end of the movie.. soooooo I dont know.. I am going to go and buy the first book so I can make some sense of the jumble.. and I guess the 3rd book... just cos' .... uhm.. I am keeping a list of all the books I read this summer.. I already jacked a whole stack of books out of my brothers room.. ok yes.. it sounds dumb.. a soon-to-be junior stealing her soon-to-be 8th grade brothers books.. but honestly.. he pulls stuff off the shelves for mostly looks I think.. I always boasted he never understand a word.. he did have a faint inkling however once or twice.. regardless! the books I stole from his room (he will be away for a week at boy scout camp) are ones I know he has tried to read.. or started reading... he tries to do 3, 400 page novels at a time.. its rather silly... uhm...... I am semi-sort of sad.. my reading speed has slowed down tremendously.. but I think its more because I stop to smell the flowers and re-read things I missed.. I used to skim for the idea... in 2 & 1/2 hours I only got to the 100th page of "The Secret History" Emma loaned to me.... but.. the print is miniscule compared to a lot of other stuff.. the language is quite descriptive.. and the chapters are like.. 40 pages long.. it is quite interesting.. I like it because I understand random things that they are talking about.. the story at hand, is about this group of sort of die-hard students studying Greek and this guy who falls in with them.. and you know from the first page one of the guys is murdered.. so it is interesting in that aspect.. but the tibits of Latin and history.. I feel all "I KNOW THAT!"..and that sooo rocks my socks.. while I read.. I sort of meditate on things like.. I wonder if so-and-so was reading this, would they understand the importance of that detail.. or did they catch that difficult twist.... I get arrogant when I read I think....... but books have become my best friends again.. like friends.... they can betray you and they can turn their back on you (mwa! sorry for the stupid punnish comment) but they are always there at your disposal and they always have time for you.. and instead of having to occupy their attention.. they occupy yours.... lol.. I just read this whole post over and realized how fruffy my words are.. my vocab is having a workout.. that is sort of the point to all of this.. reading builds your vocab.. without you really knowing it.. and.. with good practice... you get used to reading long, not so wonderful passages possessed in almost every good book... good practice for those boring-till-the-point-of-suicide passages of the SAT... on a completely different note... a counselor (my age) chastized me for bring my SAT book to camp.. she lectured me on the importance of "summer" and "relaxing" later.. I got some looks from people..lol... and I heard people talking about me at the coloring table.... god.. you carry around a thick-ass book and suddenly your a genious..... you are really quiet in class(sleeping) and suddenly everyone assumes you have some towering GPA.. I guess I am not complaining.. but people are so easily intimidated.. I am seriously considering memorizing some monologues from famous works just so I can blurt them out to random people (of my disliking) hoping it scares them quite a bit.... well.. I have more book to read... so ^_^.. hehe

thats why The Secret History is so great, it makes you feel smart when you *get* the references and bits to things in mythology/history/latin/etc. hehe
