well.. dinner was fun.. we went to Gudalajara, where we have "connections" for my grandma's last day in Houston.. when I got home I found this book my mom had given me but I had put to the side "for later".. it's "The Harvard Lampoon's Guide to College Admissions" .. all of you must buy it now so you can snort your beverage through your nose... it is SO funny.. it's pretty much useless.. but it lightens up the whole process... so.. its good for a laugh....

I think I am going to try to bicycle home from the Y.. its like.. 4 miles.. but through neighborhood.. the scenic route.. I could go several ways.. ironically... the most direct has construction.. blargh.... I think it would be fun.. I don't want to wait from 2-5 for my mom... she is so close.. but she cant get us... so I want to do that.. as I see it... bike.. swim when I get home... do stuff.. it sounds good.. my dad is all nervous though.. not very typical of him.. well.. I have to check on the lunch situation.. and probably make a run to Randall's.. but.. tomorrow is the first day of work.. so wish me luck!.. -Sarah

Hey, if I can swim a mile in shark-infested water to the shore of a beach in Ecuador, then you can ride your bike four miles home... easily! ;)

You see, I went on a trip to Ecuador my freshmen year with some girls in my spanish class. Everyone was going to go to the beach this one day. They were all going to take a mini boat thingy, but this girl I met during the trip- Jesse- convinced me to swim to the shore with her from our big boat. For some reason or another, I agreed to this, so we waited for mini-boat with everyone on it to leave, and then we grabbed our snorkeling stuff and jumped into the water. Rather, she jumped into the water. I climbed down the ladder and lowered myself into it.

During my little feat, the waves were really strong, and I ended up getting thrown against this really sharp rock at one point. It cut my foot right on my shoe-line. And then, when I swam underwater (I had my snorkely thingy with me), I saw all sorts of big, ugly brown fishies, and some cute otters swam by me. Playful little things. And I didn't come face-to-face with any sharks, but I saw one off in the distance... and I freaked out and inhaled a mouthful of saltwater because I was afraid it'd come after me since I'd cut my foot.

The other girl who was swimming with me had wandered off at this point. I yelled her name over and over, "Aughh! Jesse! Jesse! Where are you?!" She didn't respond for a while, but then finally, I heard a very faint, "I'm coming, Ella!" So she swam over to the slimy little rock I was sitting on, and we both swam together to the shore. As we got closer and closer to land, the waves got stronger and stronger, for some reason... and I ended up literally getting washed up on the shore, like a piece of trash or something. I landed right in front of Ms. Wische.

"Uh... hello!" I said to her, still lying in the sand all twisted up.
"I thought you didn't come!" she told me.
"Uhm, we swam here."
"All the way from the boat?!"
"Yeah!"
"Jesus..." she shook her head at me and Jesse and then walked away.

All in all, it was a really cool adventure. And I expect to hear some exciting bike riding stories from you in the future! ;)
