Last post for awhile...
Mar. 24th, 2006 03:13 pmOh friends..
What can I say? I'm on the threshold of total awesomeness. Finals are behind me, last night was an AWESOME concert.
Belle & Sebastian were totally rocking in ways I never thought possible for their mellow crooning, light beats, and dreamy guitar strumming. The New Pornographers were also truly amazing. I love Carl. He makes me smile. Overall, it was just a fun afternoon/evening spent with Anthony doing what we do best - eating good food (often breakfast) at weird hours, listening to music, and laughing/making harsh comments about silly hipster kids. The drive home was the only bad thing about the whole trip. Yesterday was so nice outside - the temperature was perfect but the sky was gray with lots of rain potential. Well, that rain held out until right when the concert let out and the entire drive back to Eugene (like 100 miles for you non-Oregonians) was total scary downpour. Not only that but was like 2 AM and Anthony was way tired, I thought he was swaying a bit so I took over. We hydroplaned a few times and that was pretty scary, I also hate big rigs so much - I was about to pass one when he lost conrol for a split second and swayed right into the lane in front of me. We got home okay, luckily but it was kind of scary.
Finals are over. I went to studio today - I've been in every single day since it was "over." I had to go in today because our GTF didn't finish grading yesterday like she said she was going to... ugh. Since she is evil and a horrible grader, I needed to check my grade so if she did something completely retarded I could go yell at her for my rightfully earned points. I also had to finish cleaning up my space (I left it half messy after I found out that I wasn't going to get my project back yesterday). So, I'm quite proud - I got the second best grade in my class and the other class. Tyler got the best grade but he's an artistic genius and his project was eons better than mine (not reflected in the .25 point difference). While it's quite an achievement, I acknowledge that I slacked some in the class and maybe that gave me more drive to overcome the fatigue everyone was feeling for that final project. My friends who usually produce awesome work weren't totally up to their normal so I really don't want to spread around my enthusiasm too much. However, this was the one project where I knew I did everything I was supposed to and considered every minute detail. She docked me a combined 3/4 of a point (out of 20) for some random shit. I looked through the other projects and the half point dock was pretty consistent throughout all of the one-point perspectives. She bitched at my line weight (sacrificed due to my magnificent graphite rendering skills) for my axon but I decided it wasn't worth complaining about.. especially with my grade being as it was. I feel way better about that class and it's enough to carry over into my general worry for all of my classes and eliminate some of that, as well.
My mother sent me an awesome care package of clothes. She's a psychic. She bought me this skirt I was admiring last week and a windbreaker that I've always secretly desired. I love mothers.
Annnyway.. enough blather. I have to finish packing because in an hour or so I'll be departing for Salem so Elizabeth and I can head to Canada tomorrow. Exciting! I think we're getting back on Thursday so that's 4 days of Vancouver related fun and 2 days of traveling the lovely Pacific NW coast. Yay for good times ahead. Ack, so excited yet nervous.
See ya'll in a week or so.
