transomwhiplassI haven't written about a band I've been really into for awhile.
Right now "I'm totally crushing" on the Decemberists.
The weather has been freak-lovely (it's Oregon, middle of the winter - yet SUNNY and WARM) and they've been perfect for strolling around campus. Their music is fun and upbeat, my steps just always end up falling in rhythm with my headphones when I'm listening to them. They are from Portland, I do believe, and they tour a lot. I'm super psyched because they are coming to Eugene in March, the first stop on their latest tour.
They use fun intellectual words like stevedore, bomazine, pantaloons, calamity, élan, and oligarch and might require you to whip out a dictionary. However, they aren't stuffy, you know it when you listen to "Los Angeles, I'm Yours" and hear Colin Meloy call out "Oh ladies, pleasant and demure/Sallow-cheeked and sure/I can see your undies..."
Oh, and "Billy Liar," there never was a classier song about masturbation.
In addition, I've been listening to this band, Grand National a lot. They are extremely awesome and super funky. iTunes knows what I like, godamnit. It are going to take all of my moneys ;_; then me are only able to ate scratch n' dent canned food.
Today was the most wasted day. However, I did have stirfry... with peanuts, and it was delicious.
