Thanksgiving & Miscellaneous Boredom
Nov. 25th, 2004 11:40 pmThanksgiving went pretty well. I helped my uncle and grandmother cook a 25 lb turkey. We tried to make gravy at the last minute with some stuff we guessed was flour - yeah, it wasn't - it was gross and quite hilarious. My uncle considered burying it until he remembered the neighbors were have some 20 odd people over and the site of the neighbors burying some mystery substance in the yard might provoke a few raised brows. We took the turkey down to the hall my aunt and uncle rented and had a very nice dinner. About 38 of their friends came in and out - there was much food to be had by all.
The turkey really got to me, I fell asleep with my head on the table about 20 minutes after I was done eating. Good times. Meanwhile, my aunt, uncle, their middle aged-hippy friends danced to such classic hits as, "Let's Get it On" and Mary J. Blige's "Family Affair." lmao, that was a site. They played that song TWICE in a row. There was also some Bollywood Indian music. Good time had by all, I even have leftovers in my fridge to prove that I had a real thanksgiving.

I've had a lot of time on my hands lately and I've blown it away by doing a lot of nothing. I have a bunch of reading I could do and several sets of homework problems. Instead today I egotistically read the online issues of "The Columns" and rolled around in my personal genious from my first 2 editorials. Haha, yeah.. I'm that lame. I'm a square... squared. Anyway, not so much "rolled around" as "felt sorry for myself because I think I was more inspired & intelligent last year than now." tear*
Becca, I finally got around to reading some of the issue (as opposed to just looking at it). You are right, whoever edited should be shot. The articles aren't very good at all. The thing that struck me hardest were the last paragraphs on 80% of those articles. I know that sounds random but they remind me of 3rd graders who write "thank you for reading my paper" at the end of a composition. Ack.. totally unacceptable and jesus, I thought I ran the paper like an ego-maniac. Rica's testament about how awesome her fish week was for her and her fish - yeah, I think I taste some of that turkey. When I find time, I'll make you a SorryEverybody.com-esque sign for leaving things the way I did. I haven't seen any other issues of the paper (have they been put out?) Haha, this turned into a paragraph long shoutout for Becca. We should do something when I get back, I miss the good times. I'll "hit the deck" for old-times sake.

Has everyone seen Mary's modeling pictures?? Go Mary! ::whistle::

Scissor Sisters make me laugh. "Take Your Mama" is playing on repeat in my head. It's so Elton John-ish which might be intentional because I think it's about a guy coming out to his mom. Something about getting your mother "jacked up on cheap champagne" and then mixing those lyrics to a catchy beat.. I love music that makes me happy. Snow Patrol is so my new Coldplay right now, I could listen to their songs on repeat for hours and just totally zone out.

I was pining a lot after dinner. Ah, so typical of me. I want to havekidsmini-clones to amuse me someday and some guy that I adore to just hang out with for the rest of my life. I've also decided that I have a biological "strobe light" because "clocks" are cliche and for 30 year olds. I'm so abnormal, I'm at the peak of youth and totally preoccupied with the idea of "settling down" someday. Except in my case, I can't "settle down" because I've never been remotely "wild" in my life. Except for the moments of extreme hyperactivity and ultimate dumbass-ery... hrm...
Dumbass-ery made me laugh. I think that's a cue that I should go to bed. Laughing alone in your dormroom at a stupid word that you made up while writing in your blog is not cool or healthy.
