Well, they caught him. Who would have thought. I'm not horribly surprised, we have a very powerful military. I'm happy that the world will be rid of a tyrant. Now to catch Osama...

This is very good news to Bush, I'm expecting his popularity to jump many points with this news. I'm worried for Democrats, in moments like this - no matter how indirect the president is linked to the event, he will be able to milk it from people who won't make the connection over the inefficiency of the war. I'm sure this will also make hundreds forget about that Halliburton thing, Dick Cheney is probably doing a happy dance about now. Yes, now it is very critical for Democrats to come together. I'm worried about Howard Dean, the central issue of his campaign and the cause of Gore's endorsement was "anti-war from the beginning". To be saying "we should have never gone to war now" is telling the millions of Americans "we shouldn't have tried to rid the world of a great Satan." To say it yesterday was appealing to the thousands that saw no end to this war (though Bush official said we "won it" months ago), it was the new Vietnam. "This war was stupid and pointless, it's costly and we will be there forever," MANY people felt like that and followed Dean. Yes, things are much different. Gore words are truer than ever that Democrats must come together and back one man. They need to unite as soon as possible and pour all the dollars they have into kick starting a huge campaign now. There is no time to confuse the people with a choice, the primaries aren't soon enough - everyday there isn't a democrat candidate's face getting as much air time as Bush will be more support for Bush.

Like I said, I'm happy Saddam is gone. But I am very afraid of what that means for America and other plotted countries on Bush's war map. People won't realize Bush got lucky when the military found Saddam, Bush probably won't realize he was lucky - he will probably take it into false confidence to wage new wars. To keep him in office is a domestic and international disaster. "No Child Left Behind" is a travesty to the education system. Another kick to education and welfare was killing the "Jumpstart" program which proved to be the most successful welfare program every implemented. The McCarthy Ashcroft "Patriot Act" is only one example of tyranical power exercised over the American people. Sure the economy is mildly improving now but only after how many jobs were lost? I'm very worried for the American people. While being rid of Saddam is a good thing, this will bring the wool over so many people's eyes. So excuse me if I become even more terrified for the world's tomorrow while everyone is celebrating a safer one.
