What makes John Mayer and his music so appealing?
I bought his second cd. It is awesome. It has all of these adorable little graphics which show the tempo, target body area (to affect), the key, where it was written.
I swear to god, he must have like.. woman's intuition or a really fantastic mother or like 8 sisters. Maybe estrogen.. I don't know, but he TOTALLY picks up on my moods. He has a song for every single emotion that I get into. It begs the question, how could a guy write the perfect soothing song capable of quashing even the most raging, bitching case of PMS? Could he possibly... understand women?? A straight man... that understands girls, he is like a god among them just for that accomplishment. Men should worship at his feet! He has bestowed mankind dangerous ballads of which to woo women.
I don't know. Some people would call me a teeny bopper for being all into his music. However, though I do like songs on the radio.. my favorite songs from my fave artists are never the ones that they play on the radio. That is why I always buy CDs from my favorite artists because you may like what everyone else likes, but you may truly miss out on some great songs. Some examples:
- Strokes (First CD): "Last Nite" is like.. not even close to being the best song on the CD. It is a great song but several others are sooo great.
- Coldplay (R.O.B.T.H.): "Clocks" is pretty good and once a few people bought and listened to the CD "the Scientist" became popular. However.. Politik, In my Place, the one after the Scientist (I can't remember the name but they played it during the famed "Alias" kiss), & Rush of Blood to the Head are awesome
- John Mayer (Heavier Things): "Bigger Than My Body" is actually very good. I like "Somethings Missing" better though.
- Train (My Private Nation): They always play that godforsaken "Calling All Angels" song even though it is EXTREMELY stupid and annoying and reminds me of that dumb Robbie Williams hit about angels that got all this air time while the catchhy "Millenium" song got about half the time. "American Girl" is pretty good.. "Look to the Sky" is also nice if it didn't sound so christian-y. "Counting Airplanes" is also nice.
International music rocks my socks. You should REALLY read Nikki & Maggie's World Music beat column.. it just might be the best piece of writing in the paper.
I'm tired. I love you John Mayer, and your future (one and only as you promise in one of your songs) wife will be extremely lucky to have you writing songs just for her.
I sleep now. Crap.. shower first. x_x
