For some reason, AIM won't let me on. I feel bad, it broke me off when I was talking to Frankie who I haven't talked to in forever..

In other news:

NEW LAYOUT! I finally put up the Ron Howard layout. I'm reaaaaally proud of my splash page which is tacky, corny, & totally something that I would like. Haha.

V. 7 Take Me Back to the "Happy Days"!

Fun fun fun. I have some work to do. Dad is yelling at me like a stupid know-it-all. Rice - Early Decision is in extreme consideration so he wants me to do all of this stuff and he tells it to me like it NEVER OCCURED TO ME IN MY IDLE HELPLESS LITTLE MIND.

GOD. I know: that E.D. app's are due in November. I have to have my SAT's done by October for that deadline. I don't have anything to put in a portfolio for architecture, at least anything recent worth looking at. I know that I need to get in 2 interviews, one special one for architecture and one general meeting. I know I have to go on a tour.

For some reason he things I'm some kind of dumbass and that I haven't known this, even though I HAVE.. FOR LIKE 2.5 FREAKING YEARS.

Its all fine and jolly that he wants me to set all of this up, but unfortunately.. I can't just do it because he and my mother have the strangest schedules. When I schedule things.. BAD THINGS HAPPEN. Like, for instance, we go to Ohio when I have my ACT scheduled, etc.

If I he could do it in a not so bossy tone, and say "we need to arrange this, here are days one of us can take you down there" I would say "a-ok, no problem, I'll call and set it up." HOWEVER, he leaves me to close my eyes and wave my finger over the calender to RANDOMLY choose a day which will PROBABLY be bad and I will have to cancel and look bad.

So, to summarize: Dad, you have to get your goddamn act together before I can do anything.

Oh, and then he says "make a list of colleges." SERIOUSLY. Does he not know where I've been going to school?? Is he not familiar with the counselors and the extreme college prep atmosphere. Has it NOT occured to him that I have lists and I have a clue on the colleges out there??????? OBVIOUSLY NOT BECAUSE I AM TOO DUMB THAT I CAN'T WALK 3 FEET WITHOUT ASKING FOR DIRECTIONS.

I wonder if this pressure is an example of his work ethic as project manager. I mean, he could have told me this maybe...... 3 years ago and it would have been new information. He has basically been out of the situation besides getting me the occasional book and now all the sudden, he is taking over. Crazy tyrant man.

Thats what you get for reading my journal.

I agree that scheduling the effort of many people in our house is hard. But here is how you do it... you get me and your mom to sit with you infront of the outlook calendar on the computer at home and you say "this is when I want to interview at Rice." And you "schedule a meeting" with cpoaks@swbell.net and Anthony.Oaks@Shell.com. If you do this it will be in my calendar at work and it will be in your mom's palm pilot. And I will help you when your mom "forgets" about your important dates. You cannot do this while watching tv, playing video games or fiddling with the html on your website. You cannot rely on your mom to put your important dates into the outlook calendar and then into her palm pilot.

Now I will play turnabout and ask "Why does your interview at Rice involve me or your mommy???

Here is how I interviewed at University of Chicago... I went to the phone book, looked up the number and called the admissions office during the summer before my senior year and said into the speaker part of the phone: "I want to apply to the University of Chicago. I understand it is a good idea to have an interview. When can I schedule my interview?"

Then I listened on the reciever while the nice man told me an interview was not necessary but a good idea. So I said again "I want to apply to the University of Chicago. I understand it is a good idea to have an interview. When can I schedule my interview?" And he said August xx at 1:30 pm at the admissions office which is located at 5645 Ellis Avenue.

When I got off the phone I asked my parents if I could borrow the car. When it turned out I couldn't borrow the car, I think my uncle volunteered to drive me over. But you know what? The 55th street bus would have got me there too. Just like the Memorial Drive bus will literally take you from the front door of our house to the doorstep of Rice if your mom or I can't drive you.

I would like to go with you when you visit RICE. The best time for me would be next Friday. If you want your mom to go with you on your interview during next week you should check with her. Otherwise you need to find a weekend that will work for either her or me.

I want to see the calendar of your important dates written down and posted on the wall in our kitchen.

Yes I would like to see your college list (not just hear that you have one).
