Project Silkscreen
Aug. 30th, 2003 02:55 amWow. Today was the greatest day ever. Niki, Mary, my brother and I hit the strip WOO!!
Actually, we got out today and so we went "shopping for our fish" as was Steph's idea (she came to school and then randomly left before school started)). So we hopped in our 3 cars and I managed to get everyone to the Target on Westheimer without leaving Mary or Niki at a light. We hit Target - got some baby stuff, I took them to Randalls - fish/aquatic stuff (got super "Remarkable Savings" with my phone number) and then went next door to Blackeyed Pea. The service was REALLY slow at lunch but we had some great dialog.
We decided to come back to my house and "jump on the trampoline." We ended up flipping through all my "People" magazines and gossiping about celebrities. THEN we jumped on the trampoline.. but only after I made Niki blow the pine needles off with a leaf blower. Stay tuned for pictures of this and something I like to call "2 Girls Bouncy Trampoline Fun - SCHOOL GIRL UNIFORMS!!!!!" XD The title is true... but the photos are not.. like that.
We came in and decided to put together our baskets with my sharpies and what not when Niki was like "how are the t-shirts?" We got on photoshop & put together a kickass back. Stuff was good until we needed to find a printer. UGH... minimums: 12-50 (at one place). That and several buisness days and this is a HOLIDAY weekend. Stuff was screwed. Sort of.
My dad came home and said, "you know we have a silkscreening kit? we used to do it all the time." In short, we went to TX art supply and got another kit since the supplies were so old and probably expired. We also went to try and get a piece of glass to hold down the image (but the guy cut it too big >_<;;) and a lamp. First try... well.. it was a failure for a few reasons.
- The glass was too big, my dad broke it trying to file it down.
- The lamp was too close (with a high heat photobulb) and actually burned some of the chemical.
- We did it in the garage - not air conditioned which probably added to the overheating
We know what we need to fix. Tomorrow we need to go find the t-shirts. I'm half asleep that is why this is in really unimaginative simple sentences. Mary and Niki should come help - Niki was in photography & Mary is.. silkscreening is totally nifty. I think they will turn out ok if my dad and I can turn out a decent template.
This is like.. a sign, seriously. We had enough materials to make this seem like a possibility. We already have the super awesome printer, photoshop, transparencies, the lightbulb. I am pretty sure these will get done. Maaaaaary you should come over again tomo..today! ^_^
