books and a gross toe...
Jun. 13th, 2002 06:12 pmI havent been on since Tuesday... yesterday my dad recieved a call about John at Boy Scout camp.. apparently his ingrown toenail, we knew he had, got infected.. he went to the doctor but he wanted to come home.. the camp is in San Marcos... a good 3 1/2 hours away.. so we popped in the car.. got him.. came back at 1:30.. I was exhausted.. yesterday was a weird story.. there is this kid Langston, he is half-white half-black.. but cute to death.. the thing is, he is a bit squirrly at the pool... yesterday we got to sit in the shade, for once, the kids sat on the first step of the pool, Langston was having some problems, er.. keeping himself on.. when we sat on the wall.. he did pop in the water.. I pulled him out as usual even though I knew he could get out.. so the diving instructor was trying to throw a diving toy back to the wall.. it landed 2 1/2 feet in front of Langston.. he dived for it.. it was in a place he could stand up in and he is a semi-capable swimmer, the most confident in my bunch of almost-swimmers .. but I had firmly lectured told him many times to stay on the wall/step or else he would sit on the side.. well.. anyway.. he popped in.. I in my tee-shirt and shorts hopped onto the second step of the pool.. about thigh deep in water and pulled him out.. I didn't think much of it.. he was just being squirrly.. as it happened, diana and dante, the counselor who plays with them in the water while waiting for their lessons were a good 7 feet away so they couldnt pull him out.. I dont know.. I just.. didnt think about it and did it.. later on, Dante thanked me for pulling him out of the water.. when we were leaving the play tube place.. I hopped up to take some kids back to the room.. my boss Missy said, "ooh here comes Sarah our life-saver.." I didnt quite understand.. but apparently Diana told everyone, my pulling of langston out of the water from the second step, was some kind of heroic effort.. soon all the counselors knew.. and then the big boss, Gretchen knew.. oy -.-;; I was so embarressed.. camp has been an interesting experience.... I finished "the Secret History" in the car, lol.. obviously.. it took me like..2 days.. I loved it.. well.. not so much the ending.. but.. it was good.. the character were really easy for me to get involved with.. I started "the Cobra Event" this morning while waiting for everyone to get there.. its by Richard Preston.. he wrote this rawking book about the Ebola virus "the Hot Zone" which is very good.. is nonfiction though.. but it is set up very ficticiously.... this one is entirely fiction.. but quite gruesome: seizures, profuse bleeding, extreme increase in aggression during death- chewing off lips, biting off fingers, one guy (already aggressive in nature) slit his head open with a knife, pulled the skin down, and began to eat his own scalp.. its DISGUSTING.. but I love it!.. sooo I am feeling ok.. everyone is getting a PS2.. we will soon.. my dad said john could get one as soon as he reached Tenderfoot, a rank in boy-scouts.. its just a matter of some simple procedures ^_^ .. so that is happy... I think I will finish my book to-day.. as opposed to "the Secret History".. it goes a lot faster.. >_> I am already on page 200 .. ^_^.. its 400 pages.. so well.. maybe tomorrow morning..tee-hee.. I have a good stack to read! and I am sorta on a roll.. its nif-ty..

Emma: I don't think I lost a brush.. is it one of the ones you bought at Michaels?
Mary: Slightly disturbbed at your mention of Niki being "sexy" or something like that...and yes.. the split keyboard took a bit of getting used to... in fact.. in several posts after we got it.. I commented on it... but overall.. its pretty nice.. I am completely used to it now.. infact.. it has made me type even faster on flat keyboards because its more effort on this one (i dont really notice it though).... so thats fun stuff..
